Removing 80's Redfield Scope Base
The front base of a two piece mount has a disk keyed into or bearing on the front scope ring base, preventing it from turning.
Anyone familiar with this older Redfield scope base who knows how to remove it?

If it's the style that has a windage adjustable rear base, then use a 1" rod to turn the front ring out of the base....
If thats not it, show a photo, and someone will help you..0 -
is it possible someone twisted off the dovetail part of the front ring?, I've seen this happen.

The front base should have two screws holding it to the front receiver ring. 0 -
There's a disc in front with a flat, bearing in the front ring base or keyed into it. It is partly relieved in its' front to allow an allen wrench to loosen the front screw. The rear screw is covered up.
A 1" bar could not move the front ring using moderate force.

The "front" Redfield ring has a tenon that fits into a slot in the front base(which is actually relived underneath in a circle). That's the part that gets turned. The rear ring sits on top of the base and is held in place by opposing screws which have a slight lip which contacts a cut on the bottom of the ring. This hard to explain to someone who obviously has not seen a Redfield mount.
I've never seen a Redfield mount with a disc (not that I can remember anyway). I'm a little foggy but seems like the "extended rings" might be involved here. IIRC, the front ring extension could appear to be a disc and would cover the rear screw. Maybe someone more technology proficient could post a pic of an extended front ring for him.0
