    Sometime just after the dawn of time...there were a strange collection of souls that would paint tincture of iodine on
    threads. The result of this action would be a threaded connection
    that was insuperably corroded. Don't see much of that anymore, but then again, where can one acquire tincture of iodine ?

    You can consider those parts chemically welded. Enlightened folks these days use the heat needed to loosen Loctite. Almost everything needs some form of Loctite or anti-seize compound.

    Thanks for asking that question. I never heard of iodine, either. However, a Dutch friend of mine mentioned that, back home, sea water was used to lock together ferous parts.[;)]
