Winchester Model 94 takedown

I am unable to breakdown a 94 takedown I recently purchased.The magazine tube unscrewed no problem. Cannot seperate the barrel from the receiver , any suggestions ?

Serial # 1,501,XXX . Mfg 1928 32-40 caliber

    I assume you pulled the magazine out of the receiver , and opened the action. Is there any rotation of the barrel assembly from the receiver , or is it tightly locked up?

    As mentioned you should carefully slide the magazine away from the receiver, open the action and make a counter clockwise twist between the barrel assembly and the receiver. That should do it.

    Yes, seger, open the action, before you try to twist the barrel. The extractor (on top of the breechbolt) will either stop you from taking apart the halves, or you will break the extractor.

    You must have mistyped the serial number. Serial number 1,500,000 was manufactured in May of 1948.

    You better hope that some diluted miscreant didn't iodine the threads, years back in a effort to get all the play out of it.

    Did all of the above it won't budge . Someone mentioned play in the receiver and the barrel. This action is very tight no play whatsoever.
    I removed the magazine tube and the wood furniture on the forearm , opened the action all the way.Tried to turn it counter clockwise , no give. Squirted some penetrating oil as best I could. Thanks for all the suggestions.

    Soak the area in penetrating oil. Then warm up the thread area with a hair dryer. Let it cool. A few cycles should get the oil in deeper.

    My bad on the serial # it is 1,051,XXX

    I'll try the penetrating oil and the hair dryer. I can see evidence on the receiver and the stock where someone had it in an unpadded vice.

    While twisting the barrel counter clockwise smack the side of the receiver the opposite direction a few times with a plastic mallet.
    You will need a third hand for this.

    "What is the purpose of putting iodine on the threads ?"...........it will rust the parts together=no play at the joint. kinda like old school 'lock tite'
