Gahendra falling block to new barrel

I have a good Gahendra action which needs rebarreling.
I have an unchambered ,threaded, rifled 505 barrel.
I would like to have a falling block 50-70 gov't rifle for shooting.

Thoughts on putting this pair together?
Has anyone taken a barrel off a Gahendra action?

    I have removed a MK 4 barrel from a Martini and it was easy. Not sure about a Gahendra. Most I Gahendras I have seen are rusted.
    You will have to remove the forestock and use heat and oil if it is rusted in.



    I am a big fan of the 50-70 and shoot mine often. I stick with BP in my reloads
    keep in mind 50-70 govt groove diameter is around .511. If you use the 505 barrel, you will have to size your bullets to whatever the nominal width of you bore is and your seating die is set to seat the larger bullets so there may be problems assuming your bore is an exact nominal 505. The Martini action can easily handle the 50-70.
    I think a 50-70 or even a 50-90 Martini is a good idea.

    According to Frank de Haas's book. The Martini-Enfield's barrel is threaded 1" OD, with 14 "V" threads per inch. Obviously you will have to recut the threads on your barrel, to match those in the Gahendra. The Gahendra being made in Nepal, might or might not be the same as the Martini Henry/Enfield?

    as above, I've built a bunch of martinis in everthing from .22 rook to .50/110. the gendera's are a different 'cat'. proceed with caution. consider havin it color case hardened.
