My sole experience with Bersa's, was with one of the all steel double action .22's. I owned years ago. It shot OK, but the sights and trigger pull left a lot to be desired.

Haven't heard much at all, about their larger center fire pistols. Since they are made in Argentina, you would have to deal with the US importer/distributor. If you bought one and it had problems. I believe they are, or were located in New Jersey?

When I owned my Bersa, I found a on-line forum dedicated to them. If the forum is still in existence? You might be able to locate them through GOOGLE. To help you with your questions on the large centerfire models.

My first carry pistol was a Bersa .380 back in 1988. I still have it as well as a Thunder 45. Very good value for the money.

Thanks for the replies and info. I'm leaning toward giving it a try. If I do I'll post the results.

The cost of extra factory made Bersa magazines is very high for the 9mm, .40, and .45 (almost $50.00 each). If you look at the price of the gun and two extra mags, you may be better off buying a Glock or Springfield XD. This is even more true when you look at availability of concealment holsters, night sights, lasers, and other accessories. Bersa doesn't look like a good value when I look at the big picture.

I prefer firearms that have hammers. Not striker fired.

Unfortunately, all of the good hammer guns are few now aday. I can shoot anything, striker fired, or hammer fired. I prefer a good DA/SA auto.

Andeaninc, is correct though, that there is not a lot of good aftermarket stuff out there for some item's, and the Bersa lines seem to be one of the,.

My carry auto's are S&W M&P Shields, and the Kahr CW-45. They all fit in the same Alessi CQC-S holster.
