Help with Harrington Richardson 922 problem

I have a problem with a Harrington Richardson 922 .22 revolver and hoping some forum member will solve...
It will work double action but when attempting to cock for single action the lifter stays engaged in the hammer and prevents the revolver from cocking.

  The lifter has to stay engaged when cocking for single action or trigger would fly forward.
  
  You may have a gunked up sear or weak sear spring; does the half-cock safety work?
  
  The tip of sear might also be worn or chipped off.

  Thank you for posting although unfortunately I still have the problem.
  The lifter does not allow the hammer enough travel to reach the sear notch... Thanks

  Looking at your pic the hole is broken on one side of your trigger. I'd bet that it is throwing stuff out of alignment. Use the pin as a mandrel with a brass hammer to reform the hole. Low temp silver with the proper flux. You could also weld it, use a fitted carbon rod to keep the hole open.

  I failed to mention that I had reformed the elongated hole before the last test. This must be a problem with this particular pistol. There is one listed as is on GB auction with the same problem.
  One thing I have accomplished is that I can tear down and reassemble in record time now..... Thanks
