Sounds like it might be for a 1/4 inch BB - you know, the little round balls- like what used to fit in the Daisy air guns we all had as kids.

Highly doubtful. The dies would be used for reloading a cartridge. I'm guessing that the cartridge has a shoulder since there are 2 dies instead of 3. However, there could be a die missing for a strait walled cartridge.

If I recall correctly, BBs for air guns were .177"

According to PO Ackley's book there are a few .25" wildcats that start with B; there is one that is belted which may be the second b. Is it possible to get at least a ballpark shape of the cartridge?

    Ray,

It's not possible. The auction http://www.ebay.com/itm/190941105722?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 doesn't state the length. There is some interest in the auction since there are 5 bidders and the price is above that of common rifle dies.

Your explanation does sound plausible IMHO.
