What's his name??

Hi, Experts. Who is the guy who does restorations with a name like Dan Turnbull, or Doug Turnbull--or maybe that's it? Does anyone have personal knowledge of how good his work is, know what his web site address is, and any idea what restoration of an old Winchester rifle would cost? Thanks Jim

  Doug Turnbull...and you better get a second mortgage on your house if he will be doing the work....he is pricey, but does a beautiful job.

  Doug's shop is less than 20 minutes from my home. I have been there several times.
  
  His father, Terry, used to own the largest gun shop/store, in NYS at one time, called Creekside Gunshop. They housed over 3000 longuns, and near as many handguns. Unfortunately, when Elliot Spitzer was our Attorney General here in NY, the Gunshop, had some items stolen, and were found in murder investigations, out of country. The bad part of the Spitzer deal, like he tried to knock down S&W, and Ruger, by him and the Clinton administration, threatening frivulous law suits, so it was with Creekside. The shop closed.
  
  However, Doug's work is second to none, and as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. Yes, The case hardening colors might be a little brighter, and pronounced than the original factory, from 100 years or more ago, but the quality is tops.

  Thanks for the info. and feed back, guys. I checked the Turnbull web site. As you have said, beautiful work, but maybe a little too much shine compared to the original. The prices sure make you think twice about doing anything. Thanks again Jim
