GunBroker selling?

I know I could ask support this question but...I thought perhaps a seasoned user would know this without waiting for days for a response from support. When you have an auction, a reserve price, and the auction ends before reaching reserve, is there a way to contact closest bidder to offer for less? It appears you cannot contact a bidder at all unless they win the auction!? I know Ebay allows this...just wondering...

    You are correct. If the auction closes with no winning bid and you could contact one of the bidders, make him an offer and then sell the item, exaclty how would Gun Broker get their money?

    I see your point...but it would be nice to have this option so you could contact the highest bidder and then let GunBroker get the benefits too.

    99% of the bidders here in our forums would say that rather than altering the procedures by allowing contact with a losing bidder on a reserve auction, you should instead eliminate using a reserve.

    I agree with mark. And you may be surprised at the number of bidders you might receive on your Item IF listed with no reserve May Buyers here Never look at any reserve bid because some items have been relisted for years I have by search for items set to not even open reserve items. You can always start an item at the lowest price you will take. Look mat SELLER LOCUST FORK she starts her auction at a penny with no reserve.and gets more and higher number of bids then 90% of sellers on GunBroker.

    Generally people have a pretty good idea on whether or not a reserve is needed should the seller want his money back plus a profit. Common sense would ordinarily be ones guide if they are selling their own property.

    If the highest bid was close to what I wanted for a particular gun, I'd drop the price and take it from there. However, if you want to sell it as quickly as possible go ahead with the elimination of the reserve.

    +1, even though the percentage might be higher.

    To the OP, if a bidder contacts you with a question, then the contact lines are open. GunBroker gets a listing fee, and a final value fee. If it does not sell, then they will relist it for free, untill it does. If youchoose not to relist, then you have to pay the listing fee, and no final value fee.

    As for reserves...they usually turn away your most serious bidder's. I strongly suggest, that you use a starting point, which is at the minimum of what you would take for the item you are selling.

    You can always state: "Or best offer" [;)]
    Actually, that is exactly what a classic auction with no reserve is. [:D] Best offer gets it.

    Bottom line is that you cannot contact a losing bidder so you'll have to relist the item. Good luck with the auction.
