H&R 923 information?

    Your gun is totally normal. The "partial loading gate" is an inspection port. I am not certain of Harrington & Richardson's reasoning, but:

    "9"= 9-shot
    "2"= double-action
    "3"= nickle-plated variation of the "2"-designator (i.e. Model 922, the blued version)

    The "pull-pin" cylinder release is called just that, as opposed to the "swing-out" cylinder variety. In fact, our own, late 32 Magnum, Jim Hauff, had documented the many variations of these guns. Here is some of his information, from a "firearms forum":
