Weatherby Mark XXII... year made?
Hello, I have a Weatherby Mark XXII semi-auto, made in Italy, serial # 11xxx.
I'd like to get more info on it, but haven't been able to find anything on the web other than it was was made between 1964 and 1971.
Sweet rifle, got it at the Glendale Gun Show earlier this year from an older gentleman selling his collection. btw, this rifle was the only good thing about the gun show, very disappointed, and the worst part is that there might not even be a gun show in Glendale next year.
But I digress, just trying to find out when my rifle was made, some history on it and how much it's worth. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Has it got the tubular magazine, or a detachable box magazine? I believe the ones with the detachable magazines, draw more collector interest.

Nice rifles I have two that also made in Italy.Been using for Squirrel hunting for 40+ years.One is European style mat finish on stock other is High Gloss WEATHERBY STYLE FINISH. I Will have to check my serial Numbers They were made by Beretta on contract to Weatherby. The tang safety is milled much better looking then the stamped ones that were later ones made in Japan.
EDIT Thanks to the site mentioned by Hawk Carse Found out one of mine 1966 other 1969 but both are higher serial # then yours 21618 & 39581 So about 6000 per year+ or - a bunch I would say late 1964 0r 19650 -
An Italian made firearm should have a date code.
There should be either a Roman numeral or two letters in a square in with the rest of the proof marks. They are on the bottom of the barrel just in front of the receiver so as to not clutter up the looks for Weatherby owners.

I once saw a XXII variant with very plain wood, dull oil finish, no foreend tip... and an Anschutz trademark. I didn't buy that one but do have the Anschutz Miroku shotgun.
