Masterpiece Arms mpa 380
Does anyone have any experience with a Masterpiece arms 380?
A friend purchased one for a backup/off duty weapon only to find out that the only thing that it will do reliably is jam. We tried putting over 200 rounds of different types of ammo through it while cleaning and oiling and oiling and cleaning to try and break it in. At no time has it ever fired over five rounds without jamming, most of the time it was two or three.
Then it got to where the magazine started falling out.
I suggested he send it back to the manufacturer explaining what it was purchased for and the problems that it was giving, feeling sure that they would get it fixed. After almost four months they returned the gun, but by that time , my friend was on orders with the military, so he asked me to check it out to see if it were fixed.
I loaded the mag with five rounds just for starters to see how it was going to do. Out of that five rounds it jammed two times.
This was not a cheap gun!! Any suggestions?

It might help if you post photos. The only Masterpiece Arms pistol I'm familiar with is the Defender, which is a MAC clone; no sane person would carry that model for "back up/off duty", so I know that can't be it.
Also, take some photos of the gun when it "jams". "Jam" can mean a lot of things, such as "failure to extract", "failure to eject", "partial chambering", etc.
And, what kind of ammo are you using?

I am unable to take a photo at this time but the mpa 380 is a very small d.a.o. 6 shot about the same size as a Ruger LCP only the mpa is an all steel model very similar to a NAA Guardian. Every time that it jams it ejects the fired cart. and looks as if the round feeding from the mag. has jumped to high and wedges on the top of the chamber. It seems as if the slide is not closing fast enough. If you oil it, it works fine for two or three rounds but then starts jamming again.
I guess that you could carry two holsters, one for the gun and the other for an oil can.

Yes, that's my gun, all but the flawlessly reliable part.0 -
Did the gun come back with a description of what was "fixed" ?
Interesting tidbit, if you dry fire it without a mag inserted you will dislodge an internal piece and makes it a paperweight till you disassemble and reset the dislodged piece. It seems the mag holds part of the firing mechanism in place.
Price wise a couple of years ago it was available for under $300. in my neck of the woods.
It has a "lifetime" warranty , Just call them and explain the problem first, ask for them to have it picked up on their dime, send it with a complete description of the failures and type of ammo used .0
