Colt 1851 Navy ?

    It'a a real beauty. But I believe it's whats called a second generation, ("C" series), replica. They were assembled in New Jersey, (circa 1971-78), from Italian and U.S. parts. Than shipped to Colt for inspection and distribution.

    Looks like that.
    The SN is higher than Flayderman gives for a square back trigger guard original.
    Looks like hot blue on the barrel, too.
    I am amazed there is no identifying mark.

    The original 1st Generation Square Back Navy
    ended at approximately serial number 4000. When
    Colt resumed production with the 2nd Generation
    Square Back in 1971 they began with sn 4201.

    So any Square Back Navy with a sn of 4201 or higher is a
    2nd (or 3rd) Generation.

    Definitely a 2nd Generation Colt, manufactured in 1973. You can get a Colt factory letter on it if you so desire.
