American Gun Co SxS

Asking this for a friend. He has come into possession of an American Gun Co SxS with exposed hammers that belonged to his grandfather. It is marked Genuine Armoury Steel on the top of the barrels and appears to be fluid steel. We do know these are short chambered barrels, possibly 2 5/8", would this length be correct? The serial number of the gun is 37637. Any information on the barrels and manufacture date is appreciated and thanks in advance.

  American Gun Co. shotguns, are listed in my reference as a shotgun wholesaled/distributed by the H & D Folsom Arms Co. This would be during the early years of the 20th Century.
  
  Likely if it's U.S. made? It was a product of Crescent Fire Arms, which was a subsidiary of H & D Folsom.
  
  Check the underside of the barrels and watertable for Belgian proof marks. There is always the possibility that it was made in Belgium and imported by Folsom.
  
  Generally external hammer guns went out of favor, in the years prior to the First World War. Because of this, if I had to speculate. it would have been made prior to 1920, at the latest.
  
  Can't help you with the chambers? After 100 years? No telling what has or hasn't been done to it?

  Answered your buddy's question on another forum. Yes, the gun was made by Crescent Fire Arms Company of Norwich,CT (1892 to 1930+) in 1899 and no it wasn't made for or sold by H & D Folsom. It was made for and sold by the Supplee Biddle Hardware Company of Philadelphia,Pa. That is, if the name is AMERICAN GUN CO. and not AMERICAN GUN COMPANY.
