New California law.
I just heard that a bill has been passed in the CA legislature that outlaws any rifle with a detachable magazine. The bill is supposed to be awaiting the governor's signature to become law. Does anyone know the facts about this? Is there a "grandfather clause" in the bill?

It requires ALL semi-auto centerfire rifles with a detachable
magazine to be registered by July 2014. Doesn't ban their ownership but bans their sale after Jan 1st 2014. They want semi-auto deer rifles with those small 4-5 round magazines reclassified as
assault weapons.
The Grandfather clause is if you own one, you have to get it registered by the deadline. It seems none can be legally bought after Jan 1st 2014. I may be fuzzy on that one as the law may be amended before it gets to a final vote.
The law also lists a whole slew of new gun laws that classify a gun as an illegal assault weapon and bans their possession.
you need to read SB374 for all the details.....I also read that
all guns will need to be registered.

Got an email from CGNN with a list and ask Moonbeam to veto (as if he can hear the general folks. I for see moving of myself or my guns out of state.
SB374 - Bans the future sale or transfer of and classifies ALL semi-automatic firearms with a detachable magazine or holding more than ten rounds of ammunition as "assault weapons." Continued legal possession requires that you REGISTER and pay a FEE (TAX) on ALL your semi-autos newly classified as "assault weapons."
AB711 - Makes California the first state to prohibit the use of all lead ammunition for hunting.
AB48 - Bans the sale of parts and repair kits capable of creating or converting a magazine to a capacity to hold greater than ten rounds.
AB169 - Limits the sale/transfer of all lawfully firearms that were never, or are no longer, on the California roster of approved handguns to two a year and redefines the technical provisions of single shot pistols.
AB231 - Expands the laws relating to firearms storage.
SB299 - Makes it a crime if a person does not report a lost/stolen firearm within 7 days.
SB475 - Would effectively ban the gun shows at the Cow Palace by requiring the approval of San Francisco and San Mateo Counties
AB180 - Repeals state firearms preemption by allowing the City of Oakland to enact gun ordinances that are more restrictive than state laws concerning the registration or licensing of firearms.
SB567 - Redefines shotguns to include any long gun with a rifled bore or a smooth bore, regardless of whether it is designed to be fired from the shoulder and bans the sale of shotguns with the revised definitions that have a revolving cylinder, and requires registration of these currently owned shotguns.
SB683 - Expands California's Handgun Safety Certificate requirement to apply to all firearms, and prohibits anyone from purchasing or transferring any firearm without a firearm safety certificate.
SB755 - Expands the list of persons prohibited from owning a firearm, including persons who have operated cars and boats while they are impaired commonly referred to as DUI.0 -

Californians elected their own peculiar sort of "representation" last election; it would be futile to try and color that as anything but Totalitarianism by fiat.
There aren't enough non-sheeple/Patriots in California to support and defend the Constitution, regardless of how much money any pro-gun group spends there.
Cut your losses; move, and vote with your lack of tax dollars funding these idiots' grand schemes.

mcaso, The NRA has pretty much said, they're sitting this one out, just like they have in the past for Calif. They pulled the same crap back in the 80's with the ammo registration law. If it hadn't been for the CRPA and the grass roots effort I was involved in, it would have never been thrown out.
Herschel, CalGuns has mounted the best campaign for Brown to veto this nonsense. If it passes, a BB gun may be the most lethal rifle left in your gun safe, providing your safe is Calif approved too!
I submitted a proposal to single these traitors out, and prosecute them for violation of their oath of office, and anything else that can be thrown at them. All we need is one convicted and removed from office for the rest to get the hint.

THAT is why they can pass these laws. When you combine all the gun owners wsameve out or who won't move in with all the illegal aliens who vote why is there any surprise at the result?

The NRA championed the SCOTUS decision that made these laws Constitutional. What would expect them to do now?0
