Military brass question
As part of a collection that I purchased I got a lot of Brass. I have some 30-06 & 270. In the 60's did all brass including civilian have military type markings? I have some 270 with military markings ? Did the military make 270 ammo in the 60's or did someone take 30-06 casings and convert them to 270 ? Thanks Vince

I have some brass that I can't identify. The case is taller and slimmer than a 308 but smaller than the 30-06. The Case OAL is Approx: 2.255 and the inside dia. is .32 The case is marked S*,8,39, P162 Thanks for any help. 0 -
Brass is usually marked by who made them or who ordered them. I'd think your 270's are made from 30-06 military brass. Check the case length. 0 -
US Military did not make .270. 30-06 that has been reformed. 0 -
Commercial brass will nearly always have a brand name or logo and the ORIGINAL caliber or abbreviation.
I agree that what you have is reformed 06 military brass.0
