primers
What is the big deal with primers? You drop the hammer and they go BANG. Why are Eley better than others? Any difference in function with rim or center fire?

Can you tell me if Winchester ever used silver primers in their .356 ammo? I thought they always used brass primers. 0 -
yes..... better with slow powders however 0 -
Most recommendations are to begin with starting loads and work up. I've found that using magnum primers requires 1-1.5 grain (4-5%)reduction in powder in the .223. This is the only cartridge that I've made direct(over the chronograph)comparisons.
Since the two cartridges you mentioned both use powders toward the slower end of the scale, there should not be a problem. In fact, a couple of the powders that work best in those two recommend magnum primers(especially in colder weather).0
