New MD Firearms law

Is anybody up on the new Maryland law? Specifically my question concerns handguns already in my possession - Is there a requirement to "register" them by October 1st? Also what about a AR type rifle if already owned?
I cant make sense reading the statutes.. gives me a headache [:p]

    The Associated Gun Clubs (Marriottsville) has been following it, & I believe that I understand what they came up with.

    As a current owner of any firearm or hi-cap magazine, you can keep what you have, you don't need to take the new course, & you don't have to register anything. And, you don't need to have proof of what you own as of October 1, although I believe that it is always a good idea to keep good records (just in case).

    If you have an AR, AK or M14-clone that you want to sell, you will need to sell to/through an FFL in another state. That is the because the law prohibits buying/importing what it calls "copycat guns", which are guns that look like guns that look guns that are full auto & perfectly legal. (No, I didn't stutter.)

    This is what happens in a State where their legislature is controlled by the delegates from a big city, which in turn is controlled by a Minority political machine and the minority voters.
    True democracy goes out the window.
    Chicago, for one, is prime examples of this.

    MD and MA are neck and neck with the most stupid firearms laws.

    Meanwhile, neither state is short on criminals with guns.

    You should consider contacting one of our members and Moderator, JustC who just happens to be in the same boat as you.

    He is in the process of resolving some of the issues with the AR15 platforms before the deadline.

    Sadly, little neighboring DE is not far behind with a complete Fed delegation controlled by the "big city" DEM machine.....in DE case, that would be Wilmington. Sadly, the entire delegation as their collective noses so far up POTUS (well, you know) backside that they brag about it.....and, of course, we are stuck with that laughingstock VP who is just as bad. My cousin came in from Tulsa a month ago and asked if he could borrow one of my .40's and I told him that since July 1 we would have to go through a dealer...thanks to our DEM Gov (who is angling for a position in the POTUS cabinent this term). Just sad really how far backwards we have gone with the DEM's in control[:(]

    Sorry to disappoint you, but we in the People's Republic of Hawaii have the most draconian gun laws of all the States. However, some cities like NYC, Chicago and Washington DC do have worse laws than my state.
