Sccy Pistols

I consider myself fairly knowledgable about firearms but I recently encountered a new name pistol I know nothing about. I have a friend who is strongly considering purchasing one (2nd generation). Can you guys give me any advice or info that I can pass on? Short of handling one in a pawnshop and a few you tube videos, I have no knowledge of these firearms. Thank you.

  If none of our folks, chime in? I would first do a search on our site here, to see if there are any prior posts concerning the Sccy pistols.
  
  If you still come up wanting, you might try GOOGLEing. Using a search term such as Sccy pistol reviews, or something similar.

  SCCY (formerly "Skky") guns are basically clones of Kel-Tec, and my understanding is the owners of the company are former Kel-Tec employees.
  
  These guns had some "teething" problems when they first came out, the newer second generation ones "should" be better now, I don't know.

  I have heard very little about these guns. I have never seen one, in person. What I have read of them, as has been said, is that the manufacturer may have improved them.
  
  Now, the name "SCCY" is the new name (actually, several years new), of the former SKYY company. The people that own the SKYY Vodka company did not like having a gun called SKYY, and believed that the name confused buyers, and diluted their brand identity, so, SKYY guns became SCCY guns. Now, in point of fact, "SKYY"-branded vodka is siphoned off of a tap, at some factory, and delivered (via tanker truck) to any number of vodka companies, to be bottled & labled as whatever those companies want to call it. $$$$

  I have a SCCY and so does a friend, both Gen 2. My friend has had no problems with his. At about 125rds when my trigger was pulled very slowly it would travel all the way back and not drop the hammer until I lessened my pull. Then the hammer dropped. Sent it back it was fixed and immediately returned. No problems since about 450rds so far. We had them at the range again tonight. They are sweet I can't tell the difference if I am shooting 115gr or 147gr. I did have to sand down the Sharp plastic corners. Some say it is a long trigger pull, but it is a nice trigger pull. My friend uses his as his carry. We also put some grip type tape on the grips.

  Me and my best friend use them for ccw. striker design, only downfall , stiff trigger pull, but without a manual safety, I can see why, very accurate, reliable and mags somewhat hard to find. economical defense 9mm. IF you find spare mags, keep them loaded, springs a lil stiff to get that last bullet it, good luck
