Marlin 39A.....Golden?

What year did Marlin go to the Gold Trigger/"Golden" 39A?
My dad had a pre-Golden 39 and I was wondering what I might look for if I wanted one like his?

  but the 39 became the 39A in 1937 and "GOLDEN" Mountie in 1954.

  Not counting the Mountie, the Original Golden 39A was started in 1983. In 1985, they added the Golden trigger- although there is a report of at least one with gold trigger made in 1982.
  
  For a pre-Golden, look for a letter as a serial number prefix, or if no letter, a serial number that starts with 18 or lower- and no gold on the trigger.
