IAI M1 Garands
There is a auction with a IAI M1 Garand, don't know much about it. Did a little research but nothing real signifigant. Any one have any input about the IAI (Isreali)M1 Garands? The price is 900 i think its a bit steap for a not so comon Garand. Is it worth it or stay away from it???

I think that it is more accurately called a "clone". The cast receivers were made by Caspian Arms in the US, & assembled with well used parts kits, supposedly for the Israelis. I am not convinced that is true. The one I saw did not look good.
For that money, you can do better. A lot better.

Unless it's in .308/7.62-51, I think somebody is pulling your leg. It might have been assembled by IAI, not used by Isreal though. Wasn't aware that they ever used 30-06 as a military cartridge.
All I ever saw, prior to their current rifles chambered for the 5.56 X 45. Is older bolt action Mausers chambered for the 7.92 X 57. And Fals using the 7.62-51.
There was a outfit down in Texas a number of years ago, using that name making M1 carbines. They went belly up quickly. Wouldn't be half surprised, if that wasn't the origin of the IAI M1 Grand on the auction.0 -

The receivers aren't Israeli. I believe they were cast by Caspian Arms.
The conventional wisdom is that a cast receiver isn't the same as the forged one as designed by John Garand. I would not own an M1 Garand with a cast receiver.
Also, for the starting price you could have a Garand made with USGI parts including the receiver.0 -
These rifles are simply surplus parts kits built up on US made receivers. Century Arms builds up the same sorts of M1 Rifles. If the auction is actually the one that CD linked then the barrel is surplused from Denmark. Among other issues that trigger group has a LOT more pitting than I'd be willing to accept for a rifle costing over $900! 0 -
