mosin nagant loose bolt?
I have a Chinese m53 and when I got it, the bolt was ugly and pitted, so I sent it back for an exchange. The new bolt looks great, but I noticed, if I have the bolt in the closed position and shake the rifle(rather vigorously) that the bolt will pop up and open. Is this normal? It doesn't doit when it cocked. Any thought would be great. Thanks

With a inert dummy cartridge or a previously fired case, chambered. Go through the same procedure. If the bolt pops open as before I would say that you have a problem. 0 -
Swapping bolts from one rifle to another is not a good practice. As rufe said, you might try a dummy or inert cartridge or a resized empty. 0 -
Yeah, headspace may be affected by the change in bolt. Even if it stays closed with the dummy in place, for peace of mind I would have a good 'smith check the headspace, etc before it is shot. 0 -
Yes, but the bolt didn't match to begin with, so would putting a different one in it, really matter? I don't know, I really had to shake the s**t out of it, before it popped open. I was holding the buttstock w my rt hand and the front stock w my left, bolt facing away from me, shaking it forward and back. Lol idk, if that would be an issue at the range. 0 -
Either way, ima get some headspace gauges and check it b4 I hit the range. 0
