Old Lyman Powder Measure Questions
I bought an old unmarked Lyman 34? at auction in unused condition.
It's painted gray instead of orange.
Any idea of vintage?
Also, are they supposed to have a powder baffle?
I don't recall if there was one when I cleaned it up.

Only heard of 55's...post a pic? 0 -
It's just a pre 55, don't know why they changed the color and number.
Here is a pre Ideal which is pre Lyman,
This is what you need to cut stick powder, a Belding-Mull,

Is there supposed to be a baffle in the clear plastic reservoir ?0 -

I think it depends on how old it is. I've seen some older grey ones without one.0 -

The 55 I have is 23 years old(orange), had it since new...no baffle in clear tube0 -
I have two older #55 gray models without baffle. Can't tell you the exact age, I believe they were late'60's or early 70's. Haven't used them for many years since I got a Bonanza Benchrest model. 0 -
I found a meaningful difference in charge weight between full and low powder height while using Unique and another pistol powder.
It does need a baffle.
PS: I received a nasty cut from the drum razor sharp edge during disassembly for cleanup. It was oiled up for storage.0 -
I try to keep all of my powder hoppers full or nearly so when loading, seems to make the loads way more consistant no matter which press or measure i'm using.Verifed by scale too. 0
