M1922 FN pistol
I ran across an FN M1922 pistol yesterday
It is all matching with a period holster
the question I have is the gun has SS runes on the trigger
guard could this be original and how much value would it add to the gun
The holster also has a nice big inked Nazi eagle maybe 3 inches across on the inside flap

Not likely original. Some backyard bubba figured on doing some enhancing, to inflate value.
They are the most common of the foreign handguns used by the Germans, during the war. Hundreds of thousands were made by FN, during the occupation. Because of this, never been big buck collectors items.
Need quality close-up photos, for accurate identification and valuation.
EDIT #1, The rune(s) marking on the tg, looks to good to be true as far as I'm concerned. How much over and above the value of a plain vanilla Model 1922. Was the seller asking for the pistol and the holster.
Generally that a good indicator of fakery. Scammers do this kind of stuff, to enhance the value of a common ordinary pistol.
Generally a run of the mill kraut 1922 would probably go for $250/$350? nowadays. Hundreds of thousands were manufactured during the occupation of Belgium.0 -

The SS runes are deep not like a stamping or electro pencil
the finish also looks original
did the SS mark guns and did they use the M1922
trying to rule out if the SS didn't use them at all then it cant be real0 -

Nazi Occupation Pistols: The M1922 has the dubious distinction of being produced in larger numbers than any other firearm at the FN plant during the Nazi occupation. The German designations for the M1922 were Pistole 626(b) for the 7.65mm version and Pistole 641(b) for the 9mm Short version. M1922's found their way to all corners of the German government and military as officer's and official's sidearms. The primary user of the M1922, however was the Luftwaffe. Interestingly, the M1922 was also offered as a commercial pistol up to 1942, being sold mostly as sidearms for war factory security personnel and police. M1922's accepted by the German military show one of three Army Weapons Office inspectors markings (Waffenamt stampings).

The SS took great pride in using only German and Austrian personal weapons. Not to say they NEVER used a weapon produced by untermen as they used some Czech LMGs and I think maybe an anti-tank weapon or two. 0 -

Hummm..don't know where you got that info. Many SS troopers in the 12th SS and 1stSS (LSAH) were armed with Belgium FN1935's when they hit our guys in the Battle of the Bulge....there are many famous photos in the public domain of SS Das Reich guys carrying John Browning's famous design! The SS actually prized WELL MADE weapons including the Polish Radom and many other pistols from foreign makers....not so much those, however, of the French although most of those were also well made but underpowered. You need to do a bit more research....0 -

I have seen quite a few of FN M1922 Luftwaffe marked and and some with police marks but none with SS runes, either double or single. As Rufe asks, got to see what you have before we comment. The Nazi's accepted into service over 230k of this well made pistol into service in .32 (contrary to some other "informed" comments here) but again, haven't seen any with runes on them YET....not to say that it could not have happened but got to see those photos. Also, the holster could be worth some bucks also if the leather is in good shape....would like to see those photos too.0 -
