    thank you for your help. one more quesiton, the 1971 uses the old style sight , i can just drill and tap the new modern style onto it ?mine only has the slide for a sight, no holes for the ramp.

    Drilling and tapping new holes for a ramp is easy with the proper jig, without not so much. A low temp silver soldered ramp can be an easy DIY. I think Williams made a ramp to use with an existing dovetail. Got a local gunsmith, good chance they have stuff in stock to fix you up. The final correct height is important.
