Japanese Cleaning Rod Length
Thanks for the info. on how to remove the rod.This brings up a couple of other questions.#1-How did the Japanese soldier use a 17 1/4" rod to clean a barrel about 3" longer?Maybe he cleaned from breach and from muzzle and therefore got to clean the whole bore.#2-Why is the end of the rod threaded?

It is that short, and is threaded, because that is only the END of the cleaning rod. The rest was carried elsewhere. 0 -

Ans: 2 squadmates would screw together the 2 shorter rods, combining them to get the req OAL.0
