Need help replacing semi-custom rifle front sight
Hello, I have the following rifle that was sold then returned
with damage to the front sight hood. (buyer or UPS crunched it)
(sorry i would just post the front sight hood, but photobucket isnt speaking to my mac)
pics 6 and 17 (before getting crunched)
Of course now i have a returned semi-custom rifle that is incomplete.
to make matters worse, it is coated, so I need to have it sprayed to match. It is steel, slides on a little rail, and held in place with a detent
Can anyone identify it? I have called the guy who built it, but he hasent called me back.
I dont know if he made it or if there are others out there. Please let me know if you can help find a similar one!
What a PITA, thanks!

If it is just the hood, a piece of tubing (aluminum, brass, steel, etc) the proper wall thickness and diameter would work. 0 -
I know, but if its a batch made product, id like to buy one pre made instead of paying for all the labor.
More importantly, I want to keep as the guy built it also, so its not a mix of several guys work, if i cant get a hold of the builder.
this is the closest I have found

Maybe re-form it on a mandrel. You might look at Lyman, Williams and other sight hoods to see if one will fit. 0 -
tsavo, I might have what you need. Is it smashed so bad you can't get measurements?
One I have measures:
Length: 1.185
O.D.: .650
I.D.: .530
Slot width: .235
Slot length behind knurling: .9500 -
Contact the customer service folks at Brownells. I would e-mail them, including a picture of front sight hood you are trying to replace. 0 -
