    Considering it's present condition, very difficult to say what it originally was?

    Appears to been crudely buffed and plated. The normal serial number markings on the right side of the frame aren't visible. Can't discern if this was done by photoshoping, or they have been actually removed?

    EDIT #1, Unless the seller posts close-up photos of the right side showing the serial number. I would pass on it. Any time you see a gun bubbaed to the extent this one has. Best thing to do, is back off, IMHO.

    Can't see the stamps,logo and S/N. It is a pre-A1 frame - no dish-outs behind the trigger. It has an A1-style short trigger. The grips are replacements. Early GIs were blued so the polished finish could be either. There are S/N lists that will tell you whether yours was GI or commercial when it was built.

    It is a 1911 not an 1911A1 Frame Serial numbers of civilian model start With the letter C if it is 45ACP just numbers if 38 Super
    Military serial with NO in front of numbers . All this is sort of moot point if serial number was removed it is now illegal to own . and will get you time in Jail with BUBBA as a room mate unless you can get BATF to give you a replacement serial number.

    It is a mixmaster at best.
    The frame, slide stop, and grip safety are 1911.
    The slide, mainspring housing, and trigger are 1911A1.
    I can't tell about the other parts.

    It will take good enough pictures to read the markings to tell if it is GI or commercial, but with the mixing of parts, I would guess it a military mixmaster derived from maintenance by armorers who only wanted a functional weapon, not a collector's item for later swappers.

    If the serial number was obliterated, the gun is "contraband" and will be seized if the BATF notices.

    His "information added is wrong. If it does not have a "C" serial number, it is not a "civilian sales" gun. Of course if it does not then have a "No" prefix then it is a fake. It has been buffed so hard and plated that it doesn't really matter.
