45-70 short Takedown info needed

Have a gentleman that is looking to buy one from an older guy who has had the gun for a long time. However he does not know the manufacturer. Does anyone have any ideas as to who did manufacture a 45-70 takedown model? According to the elder gentleman, he has had it for a long time, he is 85 yrs old. Thanks in advance

  Hello Greg,
  
  Winchester mode the Model 1886 in 45-70 and a take down frame. The Model designation is stamped on the upper tang right below the hammer. If there is a folding peep sight mounted there the stamp is covered. Does the rifle look like the image below? The loading gate detail is easy to identify.

  If you don't know at least the action type, you can't say anything. You really need the make and model.
  Right off hand, I know of:
  Winchester and Marlin lever actions.
  Harrington & Richardson single shot.
  Baikal double express.

  Upon further questioning it is in fact a winchester 1886
