    Pic 24 Appears that someone filled a sling swivel mount.

    Might have been chemically stripped but doesn't appear to be heavily sanded.

    Nice clean bolt face.

    Not an expert either.

    It doesn't look sanded, as the metal to wood finish in the pics is pretty even all over...but without a hands-on, a sanded stock isn't always easy to tell from pictures. Neither is the actual finish on the wood; whether it is a period finish or a more modern polymer.

    It is a clean rifle stock, and the chemical cleaning that was suggested seems more likely than a sanding/refinishing.

    I have an M95 with similar finish, fwiw. Also the filled in sling swivel slot is correct for a shortened rifle stock.

    I have several of these little rifles and this stock looks like a couple of mine so I don't think it has been "bubba'ed" up.....perhaps some kind of oil/wax put on it, but the stock looks good to me.....the giveaway to me is the wood on the forend....if it had been redone, that little piece would shine like the rest....and it doesn't so I think it is good.

    This one is full length, do you have the post war cut down carbines? I asked the seller and he was not sure about a re finish he said the stamps in the stock look faint so he guesses it might have been. He does not know the year and I needed that info too. The one I own is dated. Wonder why his is not.

    I went to the safe and looked at mine. None of the ones that I have are post war cut downs. Four are Nazi WaA marked with birds, the other two are like this one, but the stocks are not as nice which leads me to believe that someone has put some wax on this one to make it "shine" in the light. My stocks do, however, have clear #'s on them matched to the bolt and I notice that there is a line on yours which leads me to think that this one might be forced matched. I guess I would have to have it my hands to make a conclusive opinion. So, a bit strange IMO which might lead to some doubt.
