mosin question
shooting today and after a few rounds the bolt will not come up enough ..maybe 1/3 of what it should...Broken extractor maybe???

No way of knowing, until you get the bolt out. We recently had a topic about the different M-N ammo, and how much it varies between the different makers and years of production.
If you can successfully get the bolt about without major problems? You might consider trying different types of ammo.
Another thought is the variance in manufacturing tolerances between makers. I once had a Hungarian Model 44 carbine, with a mismatched Russian bolt. It jammed when feeding continually, until I swapped out the bolt from a Finnish Model 1927.0 -

Either "sticky bolt" or a broken/badly fitted extractor are the usual culprits.
Sticky bolt is from a combination of cosmolene and lacquer melting together in the chamber. Carb cleaner and a .45 cal bronze brush will clean it out, then burnish the chamber.
There's a relief cut on the breech end of the barrel that the extractor rides in. If it's full of gunk, that will hang it up too.0 -

Evern under good conditions Mosin bolts are hard to work.
They have a short handle, so you don't get much leverage, and they cock on the upstroke, requiring more force than some designs.
As mentioned, they can also glue shut from case lacquer in the chamber.
If your gun was working fine previously, then suddenly stopped, I'd look for a gummed up chamber or broken extractor.0
