    i am building a winchester 1892 and have an antique receiver. how can i tell the calibur of this receiver? i had a spare 25-30 1892 round barrel and it fits on the receiver. please educate me a little so i know what parts to buy to finish this project. thanks

    The opening measures approx. 5/8".

    Per the original factory records, serial 7182 was a 44 WCF.

    Hello,

    You can also easily tell if the receiver is a small caliber (25-20 & 32 WCF) versus a large (38 & 44 WCF) by looking at the cartridge lifter. It is curved in the smaller calibers and flat in the larger.
