Smith and Wesson 648

Did Smith ever make the above gun with an 8" or 8&3/8" barrel with out the heavy shroud? Also, what about the 625 with an 8&3/8" barrel?

  No and no; as far as I know, and supported by the S&W Standard Catalog, the 648 was six inch full lug only. And not D&T for scope until the 648-1.

  Jeff is correct, if you want an 8 3/8" barreled 22 WMR you'll have to go to the model 48.
