Mike Wiskey Question
Hello Mike I saw your edit on Casting bullets. Interesting on Hard VS soft for Steel targets. All I ever shot with lead bullets is paper and Deer, I have shot many deer with both round ball .And 200 grain
45acp wadcutter .I always thought pure lead would be better than hard as the pure lead does not fracture but just deforms . but of course this is on an animal not steel. Ihad never though about steel targets . I would think the soft lead would stay in contact with the steel Longer sort of like a push rather than a quicker hit of a harder bullet. . Of course I have never tried out either type on steel
. Bottom line hard must be the way to go as it is what works for you
editthanks I think I understand now

Back then it was push them fast and have them stay togther longer, you just can't push a 'soft' .44 bullet very fast. the 'hard' bullets would fragment and impart more energy to the steel targets. keep in mind the Smith & Wesson m-29 was considered a 'wimp' gun because you could not load it as hot as a Ruger or Dan wesson or T.C. Contender. The ram targets weight 70 lbs. and 'dings' don't count. 0
