Never heard of them before now. Definately started to laugh when I read your title though. Also chuckled when I read the description of a 19" shan dong. In all seriousness though, yes they are Chinese but have no idea as to the quality. Most of the time you do get what you pay for though.

The one in toad67's link looks like an Ithaca 37 knock off. With tons of used 870's and Mossberg's around for local inspection is where I'd put my money.

Yes that is the one I am looking at. Can't decide if I want to take the chance.

There is a previous post on them, from 8+ years ago. Knock-off of the Model 37 Ithaca, imported by Century. It, the post didn't appear positive to me. Likely you would be a whole lot better off with a used 870, usually a lot available on the auction.

Of course a Mossberg or Remington would be better, and I wouldn't expect much here, but if the gun actually fires and cycles, let alone can accept readily available American-made replacement parts, how wrong can you go for $120?

A competition or fancy hunting gun this is not, but should be fine for a "trunk gun" or a backup/loaner. Its a low-cost low-maintenance gun kept for occasional or emergency use. If it gets lost or damaged. . .oh well.

The only thing I'd say is that I'd at least put a couple of boxes of shells through it before throwing it in the closet/trunk, just to find out if it has any issues that needed addressing.

They are serviceable shotguns, built along the lines of the Ithaca 37. The same company makes a shotgun built like a Remington 870 (note the Remington style rear sight on the 37 clone on the gun in the auction link). Some Ithaca parts might fit cleanly but I would bet there are dimensional differences across the board. The guns I've handled had usable but rough actions that can be smoothed nicely.

Not a bad shotgun for the price point.
