    none on the 100 yd rimfire range.
    two on the 100 yard range
    On the 600 yd range there are large flags on either side every 100 yds.

    +100 (and 100 of them wouldn't be better)

    Some flapping left, some right, some at you, some away from you, some drooping and the ever changing wind!

    Seriously. Two should be enough. One immediately in front of the bench and another at 25 yards or so. The close one is the most important because any wind deflection near the muzzle will not get any less downrange. The mid range flag is to make sure there are no sudden switches coming from down-range to catch you by surprise. Try to place the close one so you can see it with your non-aiming eye. The mid range should be placed so you can see it in your scope.
