All it says on the bottom of the barrelis 38.
It is an unmessed with CF block.
I have seen other #2's, both CF and RF and none have had this dimple at the bottom.0 -
The Danish Remington Rolling Blocks were originally chambered for a 11.7 mm rimfire cartridge, later converted to a 11.7 centerfire. The breech block of the one I owned years ago, was able to be converted from centerfire to rimfire.
It's possible that your RB was sold originally with the same kind of breech block, i.e. convertible from 38 Extra Long rimfire to 38 Extra Long centerfire.
Best to find some very knowledgeable RB collector, who could shed some light on this?0
