May have been converted to CF by changing breech block, or the existing block converted.

Look closely at breech block face for signs of a plugged RF firing pin hole.

Also look at the bottom of the barrel, just in front of the fore-arm, for original caliber marking.

    Thanks for that.
All it says on the bottom of the barrelis 38.
It is an unmessed with CF block.
I have seen other #2's, both CF and RF and none have had this dimple at the bottom.

The Danish Remington Rolling Blocks were originally chambered for a 11.7 mm rimfire cartridge, later converted to a 11.7 centerfire. The breech block of the one I owned years ago, was able to be converted from centerfire to rimfire.

It's possible that your RB was sold originally with the same kind of breech block, i.e. convertible from 38 Extra Long rimfire to 38 Extra Long centerfire.

Best to find some very knowledgeable RB collector, who could shed some light on this?
