22 rifle
All I can read on this gun is: J.Stevens A&T Co. Chicopee Falls, Mass. USA On the rear part of the barrel it says: ???NS-MAYNARD JR 22-LONG RIFLE This rifle is a lever action type gun, you pull the lever down and the gun hinges open to load. You put the shell in pull lever up to close and it has a hammer for firing. Octagon barrel. Can you give me any insight on this gun. Is it an early "Favorite" ?

Yes, photos are best to have for what limited info supplied.
Marble's, if not aware, is the brand name of the rear sight. Which may or not be original to the rifle, yet either way of no help there to identify what you have. Too, with no serial number showing is indication being made pre-1968 Gun Control Act,(U.S.).
How is the metal finish, is it in rough shape? Reason I ask is because if it is, it is easy to miss markings, if at all legible. An example is with an ancient 1893 Marlin with bluing gone, rust and patina was the word of the day, I nearly over-looked the teeny-tiny lettering on the barrel showing caliber of ".30-30".
A magnifying glass with good lighting has become standard procedure for such condition firearms that I'm not familiar with.

To the OP, keither. We really need to see some pictures, to determine what it is. I have a splendid little pump action carbine, made by Taurus(the only good gun they made), that is a copy of the Winchester 62. It is the most excellent frogging gun(shooting these northern bull frogs, for frog leg dinner's), and is great out of a canoe, for that purpose. It is stainless to boot.
Does your rifle have an exposed hammer?

Well forget about that and read on, and answer my question concerning your gun...does it have an exposed hammer.
BTW, you should be mundane here. It has some of the best experts in all categories of firearms, in the world, and they do give great advice. Just that we sometimes need more input, and what CP was doing, is giving you a comparative, of what you gave us to go on.
