44-40 reloading?
I have been reloading for many years and am looking into 44-40. My main experience is 223, 204 with some 9mm and 45acp. I am looking at 44-40, for Cowboy action. How do I know what bullets to order? I have a choice between 200 grain in .428, 429 or .430. Do I measure my cases or what? Please help?

Most likely .428". And there are a lot of .427s out there, too.
What guns?
There is a lot of mismatch between .44-40 barrels, cylinder throats, and chamber necks, not to mention case necks and bullets.
I think the .428s will be a good compromise in most "sets" of guns.0 -
It will be for a cowboy action revolver. It has a couple hundred rounds with it, maybe I can pull a bullet and measure it. I have reloading data forBullseye powder and I have a few pounds in the safe. 0 -
Slug the bore. Size bullets a thousandth or two larger. Check the front of the chambers for size too. 0
