Llama Mini Max plunger tube problems
I had posted before about looking for a plunger tube for this gun. The part finally arrived but I can't install it on the gun. The bolt holes do not line up, the bolt holes are smaller than the ones in the gun itself and it has anchor pins that would need holes drilled in the gun to use.
Now of course I can do a "redneck install" and butcher it in the process but I won't do that. The part I ordered is a universal replacement part for 1911 style handguns. It looks as if Llama totally used their own design instead of staying with the normal parts.
What to do now? I cannot find the original part and to be honest I do not want the original as it is plastic and is the reason I have been looking for a new one.
I am so frustrated with this gun that I am just about ready to list it and sell it as is with the broken or soon to be missing plunger tube! I love that little gun, I have had it for roughly 20 years and it has never given me any trouble except for the plunger tube. It goes bang every time you want it to, accurate for a cheap gun and is fun to shoot but I am just about at the end of my rope. I'm going to try on last time to fix it then if that fails bye bye.

I would think if you took both the incorrect replacement part and the broken old part along with the pistol to A Good Machinist gun smith
Not just a PARTS SWAPPER that calls them self a GUNSMITH.
They would be able to modify the replacement part to work on your pistol. Think TIG / MIG welder then a MILLING machine. YOUR Llama LOOKS like 1911 style pistol but it is no more like a 1911 or 1911 CLONE. Then a Honda part will work on a NISSAN. STYLE does not EQUAL

I would attempt to alter the 1911 plunger tube to see if it could possibly work.
From looking at your photos. First file off or Dremel the anchor pins flush. Then with either a Dremel cut-off wheel or files make the holes in the plunger tube into slots. So that they can be retained by the mounting bolts in the frame.
As long as your not making any alterations in the frame. It still could be sold on the auction as a fixer upper.
With the hourly rates charged by competent gunsmiths. It's likely to cost you way more then the Llama is worth, to have a pro work on it.0 -
The first problem was thinking a Llama is a 1911.
The second was thinking the EGW part shown is a standard 1911 part.
I think Rufe has a good idea.
Be sure you line up the EGW alongside the broken Llama and see which hole to wallow out... or both, so the plunger tube lines up.0
