Got this off the net. Appears that the safety is not going to work as a "Drop In". You going to have to do some fitting and alterations, if you want the US made parts to work.

"I have both the GSG and U/ Colt Gold Cup Trophy..
I can positively state that on the U/ Colt, both the thumb safety "Blade" and the "Notch" in the slide are smaller than a standard 1911's configuration,
making installation of after market thumb safeties a P.I.T.A.. This change being an absolute MUST, in IMHO,
due to the fact that on my particular Gold Cup model, the thumb safety could not be operated with the thumb at all..
I had to use my non-firing hand to engage and disengage it.. I also happen to like extended, ambi thumb safeties anyway"

Look at the GSG or Sig, same gun, 1911 22, it comes with a ambi [;)]

If you are expecting a "target" quality gun, you will be disappointed. The Umarex superficially resembles a 1911 NM, but the similarity ends there. It is a mostly-zinc alloy gun, & the high price does nothing to ensure accuracy or durability. A Ruger .22 Mark, S&W 422/622, or Browning Buckmark, would be a much better choice in the long run.
