That's not the best powder to use in that application. It's too slow: You won't be able to get enough powder in the case for decent velocity. IMR3031 is a good powder for that purpose. 0 -

I have run lots of H870 in a 45-70. Leaves lots of un-burnt powder in the case and the bore. A duplex load with unique leaves cartridges and bore clear. Interesting to shoot over fresh snow.
I like IMR4198 and Accurate Arms 5744.0
