Modifying Browning 1911-22 mag disconnect

I just bought a Browning 1911-22 for plinking and informal target shooting; it's a great pistol, but one feature drives me nuts: you have to depress the mag release button to insert the magzine (unlike the usual 1911 that I am used to). I think that this is designed to prevent the pistol from firing with the mag removed, but this isn't my issue, I just want to be able to insert the magazine without pressing the mag release button. I have read a few posts suggesting the removal of a bar on the back of the trigger to defeat the mag disconnect, but my question: will this allow me to insert a mag without depressing the mag release? Normally I would just do it, ubt replacement parts for this 1911-22 don't seem to be available. Thanks

  Thanks forgemonkey; I tried giving it a bump and it seated without depressing the mag release. It's just a lot more stiff than my regular 1911 that I assumed this was some new-fangled "safety" feature. You saved me a lot of trouble. I'm going to buy the Commander version of the 1911-22 on Monday; I really like these pistols. Thanks again.
