Somebody know what the knob is for behind the receiver? On a 1905? I think I am going to go shoot this thing and want to strip her and clean her first. What the hell does this knob thing do?

maybe I am missing something then. Because it comes off ( unscrews ) if you push the little detent thing, but nothing happens. Guess I need to find me some sort of take apart guide. Anyone know of something like that? 0 -
If it's anything like my dad's 63, the machine work on those two pieces is pretty close. It takes a pretty good tug to seperate them. 0 -

Nice Rifle! Looks exactly like mine except the top row says "MOD 1905 SL". Once you unscrew and pull it back, try and lightly tap the back of the receiver with a soft faced hammer. Good luck finding ammo for it also. 0 -
That's the lock for the takedown screw. Hold it down to turn the take down screw.
My wife bought me a model 1907 for Christmas, I've owned a model 1910 for several years.

Your rifle will be either a .32 Winchester or .35 Winchester caliber. If you have ammo for it you should consider the value of the ammo before shooting it. If you don't have ammo you will probably have a hard time finding it. 0 -

Are you high? Buffalo arms carries it on a regular basis. They are currently back ordered, but orders are still being excepted. It's like 35 bucks for 20 rnds. .35 WSL... Or at least the last time I checked it was. 0 -
I found 100 rounds of empty brass at a gun show right after Christmas. Found an old set of RCBS dies, loaded some test rounds, found one that works pretty well and loaded the whole bunch. Shot 33 rounds and loaded them again.
I am going to pick up another 100 rounds of new brass when I can find it. Brass and loaded ammo is out there, you just have to look for it.

Not high, just no up on what unusual calibers were still being made. I was assuming your ammo was from back in the days when major ammo producers were still making it. I will check on Buffalo as a source of ammo for some calibers I could use, eg, .25 Remington and .351 WSL 0 -

I own an early production Model 1905 in 35 S.L. (inherited from my grandfather more than 20-years ago). When I got it, there was 200+ rounds of ammo with it, and a few hundred empty cases. I took it out to my local gun range and proceeded to P.O. everyone who was within 40' of me on my right side. Never in my life have I seen anything sling empty brass like it!. I shoot 50-rounds, and only found 43 of the ejected cases! Accuracy was so-so (2.5" @ 50-yeards). I have not shot it since.0
