How do yo contact customer service?
I agreed to purchase a colt 44-40 from mebuy. We talked via email and I asked if I could have a 3 day inspection. He stated and I quote (That will be fine. If you do not like the gun for any reason please return it.) I used the buy it now feature and called Colt to get the gun authenticated before mailing the cashiers check. The gun is being sold as a .44-40, 7" barrel. Colt is telling me that the gun was shipped in 1899 to Montgomery wards in chicago as a .38-40 4-3/4" barrel. I told Mr. Minke that the gun is not as advertised and that I would not purchase it for the selling price. The colt letter cost me $140. Instead of offering to pay for the letter which I offered him, he asked me to pay for the final value fee and gave me negative feedback. He is still trying to scam someone else listing the gun over and over again. Can you help me in this matter? I filed a fraud with GunBroker, but have not been contacted. Is there someone with customer service that can help? Phone number? Thanks

This post will probably get locked as the forums are not the place for auction complaints. But, in the meantime, here's the auction link for those interested.

In my opinion, he is not trying to scam people as you say because in relisting the gun he has added that the caliber has been changed.
Also, you should have noticed the finish difference between the barrel, ejector tube, and frame. It's very obvious.
Eat the 140 buxs for the letter as he didn't ask for it, and be glad you did this before you received the gun as his warranty terms state "As is."

GunBroker Support will respond but they're around 5,000 issues behind. They'll get to you eventually so be patient.
However, you should have checked the gun with Colt BEFORE you placed your bid, not after. Still, many Colt SAA's have been rebarreled by the factory from their original configuration but that will not show in the factory letter.
I hope the gun has a 7 1/2" barrel and not 7" because Colt didn't make them in that length. However, I don't know if you have a fraud case as it sounds like the seller described it accurately without making any claims as to how it left the factory originally. And, due to the fact that you prevented anyone else from buying the gun by hitting the "Buy it now", it seems fair and reasonable that he is only asking you to pay his fees for doing so. He can, however, file a non-paying bidder complaint and get his fees refunded by GunBroker since you refused to pay him.
Good luck.
PS: Johnny is right about the letter. That was your option and the seller did not offer to reimburse you. It's on you.
Also, the seller's statement is honest: "Please ask questions because I am not a Colt collector and I know very little about these older Colts." I don't see any fraud here.0 -
kleinpawn@yahoo.com,
I realize that you're upset and want to have some form of immediate resolution to your problem but that is not to be these days. Unfortunately, all of the Auction side is buried with requests and investigations, so you will have to wait your turn.
In the mean time, please be aware that there is a link under the GunBroker logo for our Posting Guidelines. I have C&P'd the pertinent lines for you to read.
From the GunBroker forums Posting Guidelines:

I have not deleted this as I wanted you to read the information. I will however, lock this thread as it is finished with this explanation.
