Taurus model 66 .357
I was offered one for what seems like a good price. Reasonably good shape that look like the bore has never been cleaned. I have no Taurus firearms. Any opinions?

I'd call $100 a good price on a Taurus. If it's > that....
If you search this forum on the keyword "Taurus", you will find lots of discussion. Some folks are happy with theirs, but many have experienced severe problems. If it isn't marked BRAZTECH, Taurus won't fix it, even if you are willing to pay. And, there are many reports of repairs taking months, or the gun is returned still broken.

I've owned one for two years 6 inch barrel - paid $379 for it new. Have shot about 300 .357 rounds and over 700 38spl reloads. Three times the cylinder didn't align itself for the next shot. Had to open it and rotate it and then close it and it ran fine. Other than that it seems ok and if it dies I won't feel bad tossing it for that price. I don't carry it just use it for target shooting. 0 -

In my opinion, Taurus revolvers are typically inferior to Smith and Ruger ones and many of them have serious issues with respect to quality control.
If you get a good revolver and a GREAT price, you can do OK with a Taurus. (IMO a "great" price on a used Taurus 66 would be well under $300).
But in my opinion, you're usually better off paying a little more for a used Smith and Wesson, which is not only a better functioning gun, but easier to sell in resale (should you ever need to do that), plus more likely to appreciate in value over time.
FWIW, you can buy a good to excellent condition used Smith and Wesson model 19 .357 magnum revolver for about $400-450, or potentially even less if you're patient.0 -
