MULTIPLE HANDGUN FORM QUESTION

Guy bought a Contender 44 Magnum handgun and a FRAME for another.. IS that considered a multiple sale or is the frame not considered a handgun ? It does have a serial number obviously.. Do I do a multiple form or no ?

    Was the second frame ever registered as a handgun? If it was its multiple handgun purchase. If not Its a handgun and a long gung sale.

    On the newest incarnation of the Form 4473, there are three categories of firearms: Long gun, handgun, and other. "Other" includes a receiver or frame for a firearm.

    The Multiple Handgun Transfer Reporting Form is for HANDGUNS, not for "other."

    Read question number 18 explanation on the newest version of the 4473.

    No need to fill out a multiple handgun form.

    I hope that our paperwork never becomes standardized! It is so much more fun constantly replacing forms and trying to understand just what they want from us dealers! [;)]

    That all depends on what state you live in, and what the the other started life as. If it is new, and never built on, then that classifies as an other. If it is a frame that has been manufactured as a rifle, Contender Carbine, as an example, then yes. Here in NY, if it is a frame that has been manufactured as a pistol, at some time, then it must go/be shipped from an FFL, even if it is in rifle form. Other states may not require shipping a handgun from an FFL, but some might.

    The Postal Regs (USPS was the question) say that an unlicensed person may MAIL a rifle or shotgun. An "other" is not a rifle or shotgun.
