1917 german luger
hello experts,a guy wants to sale me a 1917 luger but he dont have papers for it gun is in fair condition but theres no mag for it and the price was definitly right but im leary about the no papers he said because of how old the gun is i dont need papers to own it were both located in Michigan is that true about not needing any paper work. thanks for any help

As far a the legalities of buying a handgun in MI are concerned. Each State and many cities have their own requirements. Go to a local gun store where you live. Ask them about the requirements for purchasing a handgun. As a 1917 dated Luger is not a legal antique, it will be considered a modern handgun. No different than if you buying a new Ruger or Smith & Wesson.0 -
In Michigan, ALL handguns must be registered. (The State does not call it registration, but that's what it is.) Possession of an unregistered handgun is a felony. You can buy it and take it to your local law enforcement station and attempt to register it and that may work, but on a bad day, they will keep the gun because of no paper trail. Of course, if it's ever been reported stolen, it's gone! I've got a couple of stolen guns returned to me because the new buyer attempted to register them and the Sheriff returned them to me.

You might want to make sure that it is chambered in 9mm Luger before you buy.

The 7.65 is good if loaded to 9mm pressures, a pipsqueek if not. 0
