Parker Brothers 16ga. SxS question...

Because of all the rain around here (central Iowa) basements are being cleaned and I became the owner of a Parker Bros. SxS shotgun that I plan on listing based on your responses!?!? BTW...thanks ahead of time for the help. Here's the scoop; I don't know Parkers but mine is a 16 gauge version based SOLELY on the 16 stamped on one of the lock-up posts on the bbls. I have NO shotgun shells to verify this but will try to do so tomorrow. The gun has a ser #226xxx...and 28" bbls which say Parker Bros Makers Meridan Ct USA on the rib. Parker Bros is engraved on both sides of the receiver side plates. The rest of the printing on the underside of the bbl lock-up area says Patd Oct 25 1910...Overload Parker Bros Approved and there is a capital H and T next to each other with a capital A stamped below them.
The gun has only outline engraving and the wood is checkered only in the grip area on the stock and on the forearm. The rubber butt plate has a small chip missing.
Now, about the water...this gun stayed high and dry but was stored poorly for many years and thus it is freckled everywhere! This is the basic description I will use for listing and I'll have photos. And guess on a fair starting bid? I usually start at a penny but I wondered what this plain jane Parker might go for??

There is alot to know about Parker shotguns.
Being a 16 ga it should be on an O frame, supposedly there are some out there on I frames, I've never had one in my hands. By I & O, I speaking of frame size, Parker was the first, I think, to have a different frame size from 12 to 16 gauge. I may be wrong on the frame size's being O & I, if I am, some one will correct me. Most company's at the time, used a 12 gauge frame for a 16, Parker built a realy nice, fast swinging 16 gauge frame.

They are a great source of information, everyone is very helpful.
Here are some pictures of an original Parker 16 gauge that is probably the same model your asking about. This one was in pretty good shape, it sold on the auction side for $1,700.

The checkering on this part of the stock is not original Parker. THe quality is not good.0 -
Not to undermine GunBroker business, but I'd suspect there would be a lot of interest in this gun on the sixteen gauge society website. I tend more toward Winchesters, but there are a few on the site that live and breath Parkers. 0
