firearm infomation
I received a pistol from a deceased relative and have no Idea if its registered or what? There use to be a web site you could check it but, I don't have it anymore and unable to find with a search. Anybody know the site? Thank you

No Federal registration requirements. State or local may be different - where are you located? 0 -

"Local" means city & county.
In PA, there are no local firearms restrictions, & the state does not register guns. As long as your relative was a PA resident, & you are not prohibited from possessing firearms by Federal law, you need do nothing.

EDIT: In most cases, it is not possible to determine the history of a specific gun. Sometimes we can. If you want to post a photo of the gun, close enough that we can read all markings (including serial number), we will try to help.0 -
My relative was a city police and carried it as a backup? There are some stories on how he acquired it? I like to find out the history of it. 0 -

Not entirely true. PA has an (illegal, but none the less its enforced)registry of handguns. If a handgun is passed from grand parent to grandchild, or parent to child, or husband to wife, it doesnt have to be registered. Any other relation MUST be transfered and registered....even between siblings. This DOES NOT APPLY to long guns (even those "evil automatic black guns") and shotguns.0
